More Festival News!
9/20/2007
Yesterday, we received the great news that “Dribbles” has been named an official selection to the Somewhat North of Boston (S.N.O.B.) Film Festival in Concord, NH from November 9-11.
So, with that and the New Hampshire Film Festival, we are off to a great start in our home state but the news gets better. This morning we heard that “Dribbles” is an official selection at another film festival that will take place this fall. We are not yet at liberty to discuss details but suffice to say that we will begin expanding beyond the New Hampshire borders. There will be more news on that later.
Back to S.N.O.B.:
As I mentioned in a long-ago blog, S.N.O.B., in spite of its tongue-in-check name, is anything but a political, name-dropping, celebrity-spotting kind of a festival. S.N.O.B. is designed by and for people who truly love independent film.
What’s exciting about returning to S.N.O.B. for us is that, almost three years ago, I had an out-of-body experience at this event. It happened during the Q&A session following the screening of one of our short films. Standing up on stage, I was faced by a member of the audience and asked straight out, “So, what’s next?”
With Heidi’s handprints all over my back, I began to ramble on about how our next project would be a full-length feature film called “Dribbles.” It was about at this time I floated up out of my body, over the audience, looked back at myself, and thought, “Who is that guy, what on earth is he talking about, and does he have the slightest idea of what he’s getting himself into?”
Last night I said to Heidi with a satisfied sigh, “Well, it was crazy, but we did it.” Heidi replied that it wasn’t crazy because we knew full well what was going to be involved. My reaction to that was, “That’s what makes it crazy – if we didn’t know what was involved, we could simply claim ignorance.”
The point is, though, that we said it out loud. We’re going to do this thing; we’re putting a stake in the ground. The S.N.O.B. film festival is where we did that almost three years ago and it sure will be fun to return and show the film.
And who knows, we may end up making another crazy statement.
P.S. Thank you so much for the wonderful response with ticket sales to the premiere. The Dana Center is a nice, roomy facility, though, and there are still a good number of tickets left for those who are interested.
